    The sweet side of Easter

When I was younger, I had many different perspectives on Easter like going to church or spending time with family, but as a kid I would look forward to my Easter basket the most. My basket consisted of an Easter outfit, an entertaining outdoor toy like bubbles or a jump rope and a book. Of course, my favorite was the tremendous amount of candy and sweets.

Many times, in my Easter basket I looked forward to the different varieties of candy that my brother and I would exchange for our favorites. In my Easter basket, my favorite candy to receive was Reese’s pieces Easter candy in a carrot bag. I would eat as many candies as I could thinking it would be endless.

    It was in fact not.

My least favorite happened to be Brach’s jellybeans because of the varieties of flavors and eating them all at once, but I would always come back to them after all the other candy was gone.

On the days leading up to Easter if you walk into any store the shelves are stocked full of many different candies. These include Reese’s chocolate eggs, Cadbury chocolate eggs, Starburst jellybeans, Robin eggs, various varieties of Peeps and the iconic Chocolate Bunnies.

Reese’s chocolate peanut butter eggs are the most expensive at five dollars and ninety-ninety cents. After that are the Cadbury mini eggs which are four dollars and forty-nine cents. Also, the chocolate bunnies from Lindt Easter gold bunnies are four dollars and forty-nine cents. Furthermore, the Starburst jellybeans and Robin eggs both being three dollars and sixty-nine cents and lastly the peeps Easter bunnies being two dollars and sixty-nine cents.

As I went to the store to buy all the Easter candy going into the Easter candy aisle the bright colors instantly caught my eye. Especially the Reese’s Chocolate eggs with the bright orange and yellow packaging I knew it was a candy that I needed to try. Another candy that immediately caught my attention was the starburst jellybeans. I already knew these were amazing, due to my mom buying a large amount of them every year around Easter.

My expectations for all the Easter candy were extremely high because who does not love any kinds of candy, going into this thinking I would like them all equally. Something that is eye catching is packaging for anything and candy especially is a massive thing that gets me to buy them so if the packaging is bland and not colorful then it is not going to make me want to buy it.

The Starburst jellybeans packaging is extremely colorful overall even the candy itself has many assorted flavors and colors with there being pink which is strawberry, green which is green apple, orange which is orange, yellow which is lemon, purple which is grape and lastly red which is cherry flavored.

The strawberry one is my favorite because of the color and the blast of strawberry flavor.

Cadbury mini eggs were always my favorite when it came to Cadbury eggs partly because of their small size. They come in four assorted colors light blue, light pink, yellow and white. This candy did not catch my eye as fast as some of the others because of the packaging being a dark purple color. The Cadbury eggs are crunchy on the outside and they are soft on the inside with a perfect mixture of both.

Reese’s chocolate eggs are the same as Reese’s cups. The only difference is the shape. Which I think adds the perfect touch because it is for Easter.  Due to their bright color on the packaging, they were the first candies that I got. With myself not being a big peanut butter fan Reese’s eggs are surprisingly one of my favorite Easter candies. Chocolate and peanut butter are great together, making them one of my favorites.

Robin eggs are another favorite of mine, especially on Easter. Robin eggs remind me of when me and my cousins were little and would have Easter egg hunts.

The taste is like chalky chocolate. The outside is crunchy and, on the inside, it is light and airy but also has little chocolate.

I think people either hate or love Peeps. I love them because they taste like fluffy marshmallows covered in sugar, but they also have almost no taste at all. There are so many different peeps that you can choose from color to flavor, there’s pink, yellow, purple and blue peeps. Even watermelon, fruit punch, Dr Pepper, birthday cake and cotton candy flavor.

My favorite is just the plain yellow peeps Partly because of their bright yellow color.

Chocolate bunnies are the cutest Easter candy making them almost too cute to eat. Most are either milk chocolate or dark chocolate one, but they are the perfect Easter candy.  Most people love them unless they do not like chocolate, because it is just chocolate.

Overall, i think all these Easter candies are great and amazing choices if you want a sweet treat.
