Omaha North’s High School baseball team is working hard at preparing for spring baseball through fall ball. Fall ball is an opportunity to work on skills to improve their work ethic for spring season. It is an optional extra practice that most baseball players participate in for their own benefit. The players dedicate their time and efforts to fall ball.
North’s team has games every Sunday, and practices are Tuesday and Wednesday at 6:00 P.M. and Saturday A.M., at Fontenelle Park.
According to Pitcher, Sam Kanoski, 11, fall ball helps the North baseball team improve in their skills.
“It’s like practice but it’s games that make you work a little harder and put in extra work to improve yourself,” said Kanoski.
Kanoski dreams of being on varsity this upcoming season. He has dedicated his time and efforts to fall ball achieve his goals.
Isaiah Wyatt, 10, outfield, says that fall ball is an easier way to get prepared for spring baseball.
“It really helps you on your errors. It’ll help you put more pressure on the spots you need to work on most, so you won’t make as many mistakes,” Wyatt said.
Paul O’Gorman, Assistant Varsity Coach, joined the North community four years ago. At the time, fall ball was not an option. The team struggled mightily during the summer season. The coaches saw that their boys were struggling and something needed to change. The following year the players were introduced to fall ball.
“We’ve seen a drastic change in play on the field, baseball IQ, and knowledge of the game in order to be more successful in the spring and summer,” said O’Gorman.
Fall ball is a great opportunity for those who want to get better at baseball. It is also a way to make connections with different students. Players can relate to each other and uplift one another while getting better. Everyone who plays fall ball are in good connection, and they make the experience better.
