Waking up at 6:00 a.m. can be draining every day. Especially when your body is still
growing. It is not a surprise that students rely on energy drinks to make it through the day.
Many Omaha North High School students drink Alani energy drinks, me included.
Each day I walk down the hall and notice the different bright colorful cans in the different
student’s hands. As an Alani drinker for three years, I set out on a mission to try the top
flavors of Omaha North High School students.
While some flavors of Alani can be harder to track down, they overall are very easy to find.
You can locate most Alani flavors at any local Walmart, Target, grocery store, and even
most gas stations. While the price can differ place to place on average, one Alani is roughly
$2.50.
The Cherry Slush is overall a decent Alani, but it feels like you are drinking a can of
diabetes. While the taste of this drink is pleasing, and the energy drink is made without
sugar. The taste of this Alani is so sweet it is hard to believe that they do not use sugar in
this. Overall, this Alani is a 6/10 while it tastes good, I cannot get over the fact that it tastes
like I am drinking straight sugar.
With Juicy Peach you get more of a natural flavor. While it is still an energy drink, it tastes
similar to juice. Most energy drinks have a slight chemical burn that makes you aware that
it is an energy drink. Juicy Peach lacks that aspect and for that reason I think this one could
be very addictive. Overall, I would give this drink an 8/10 because it does not give typical
energy drink vibes.
Strawberry Sunrise is Alani’s newest member of the lineup. The new drink is supposed to
taste like berries and orange. For me, the longer I drank it, the more I liked it. The first sip
tastes like gasoline in a can, then after you swallow there is a sweet strawberry taste. Then,
you take another sip and the gasoline taste that you had before slowly begins to fade out
until you only taste the sweet strawberry flavor. This is worth 7/10, the strawberry makes it
worth the first sip of gasoline.
Cosmic Stardust is the next flavor that I tried. The scent of this drink gives me nostalgia. As
soon as the can was cracked open, the scent of a grape Tootsie Roll sucker filled the air.
However, this feeling quickly faded as soon as I took a drink. At the first sip, it tasted like
chemicals which was then followed by the taste of grape cough syrup. The bitter taste
lingered in my mouth for way too long. Due to this, I despise this drink and it is worth a
2/10.

Orange Kiss can kiss me goodbye. I am not a fan of artificial orange, but the taste of this
orange is unbearable. Within the cracking of the can, the strong scent of orange radiates
into the air and the first sip is just utterly disgusting. I do not like this Alani, and I would
recommend that Alani discontinues this disgusting drink, this is worth a 1/10.
Cherry twist is honestly heaven sent. The taste is just so immaculate, and it deserves all
the praise it gets. This is basically a cherry limeade, which just sits so well. The main
problem with some Alani flavors is that it tastes so caffeinated, and the taste of the drink
does not match, which leaves this burning sensation. This drink does not have this
because the taste of the caffeine does not change the taste of the drink but instead
enhance it, this drink is honestly worth 9/10 it is worth the two dollars.
Dream Float is so airy it feels like a cloud. It is like an orange creamsicle, which I personally
love. The consistency is thicker reminding me of a melted popsicle. This flavor lingers in
your mouth as if you are drinking a cream soda. This Alani is worth a 7/10 because while I
believe it tastes good but still believe there is room for improvement.
Going into Pink Slush I had such high hopes. Everyone on social media seems to love this
flavor. While I think it was good, it just was not great. Similar to other “slush” flavored
Alanis, Pink Slush is so sweet it almost hurts your teeth. Ignoring the sweetness of the
Alani, the strawberry flavor is very strong in an excellent way. Being a big fan of strawberry,
this Alani is an 8/10.
Within the past month Alani has been bought by another energy drink brand. This has
started concern that the formula for Alani will be reformulated. This has upset many
people because they do not want Alani to change.
“Celsus should not be buying Alani it is perfectly fine as it is and nothing about it should be
changed.” said Oakten Baker, 10.
While everyone is entitled to their own opinions, factoring in what other people also believe
can help you find your favorite flavor faster. In my opinion, it is very hard to go wrong with
any flavor even when they are bad, they are slightly good. If you want to try Alanis, then I
say try them.
