When the seasons change, and fall comes around, some people start partaking in fall activities. Some of these fall activities include making caramel apples, carving pumpkins, or even going to the pumpkin patch with friends and family.
Many people of all ages enjoy doing fall festivities and activities because it brings them closer to their families.
Jayden Calhoun, 9, is a student at Omaha North High School and says that he enjoys fall time because “I love football, Sunday night football and I love going to Valas with my friends,” stated Calhoun.
Calhoun also stated that his favorite activity is to go to Valas with his friends but with the increase in the entry fees many people cannot attend Valas.
Some of the fall attractions that Nebraska has to offer are apple orchards, Valas Pumpkin Patch, Scary Acres, and more.
One of the more popular fall attractions in Nebraska the Valas Pumpkin Patch because it is family friendly, and kids and adults of all ages can attend. If you are a current resident of Nebraska and are in the Gretna or Millard South area, then you most likely have heard of or attended the Valas Pumpkin Patch according to Shelby Neeley, an opinion editor for the article “Nostalgia Costs a Pretty Penny.”
Neeley also writes about how in her opinion “Valas is nostalgia bait at its finest,” and she backs this up by talking about how the inflation made the prices for the tickets rise to the highest they have ever been at almost forty dollars.
She also compares how around five years ago a ticket to get in was 19 dollars and compared to now it is almost 20 dollars more. This could be a huge factor as to why people pass up the opportunity to go to Valas Pumpkin Patch. A lot of people cannot afford those prices, especially if a family brings four or five people, which would be around 160 dollars.
The current entrance fees according to the Valas online website are $21.99 on Monday-Thursday and $39.99 on Friday-Sunday.
Some of the activities that Valas offers are a corn maze, rides, play areas, food and treats, and apple picking. According to Valas, they also offer plays/shows, hayrack rides, and caramel apple making. These activities are what keep the over 200,000 people coming back every year for more fun and to create more memories with the people they enjoy hanging out with.
Another attraction that Nebraska offers is Scary Acres. This is a huge attraction for the teenagers and adolescents in Nebraska because it makes them feel excitement and fear/adrenaline according to Molly Bruggeman, a reporter for the North Howler. She also stated that those same feelings keep the teenagers coming back for more every year.
Scary Acres is located in Omaha, Nebraska near Lincoln and includes activities such as scary houses, a gift shop, and lots of food and treats.
One other fall attraction that Nebraska offers is the Super Bee Orchard in Fort Calhoun, Nebraska. This orchard is family run and offers apple picking and fresh produce. This includes apples, peaches, and raspberries. They also offer jellies, popcorn, salsas, mustards, dressings, and more.
There are many attractions that people have access to in Nebraska but there are also several activities that people can partake in at home. These activities include pumpkin carving, watching Sunday night football, making caramel apples, watching a scary movie, or even just dressing up in some fall pajamas and hanging out with people you care about.
