Insomnia Cookies is the next big cookie place in Omaha. Some other cookie places in Omaha are The Cookie Company, Mary’s Mountain Cookies, Goodly Cookies and Crumbl Cookie.
Insomnia Cookies was born out of the dislike of heavy meals late at night, love of food delivery and the realization that by the time you get hungry at night, nothing is open.
The concept was founded by Seth Berkowitz in 2003 from his dorm room while attending the University of Pennsylvania, according to LinkedIn. The owner of Insomnia Cookies is also Krispy Kreme Incorporated.
As a fellow sweet lover, I have tried many different cookies and cookie places. Going into it, I thought that they would exceed my expectations because it is hard to mess up cookies. Insomnia has many different items you can purchase aside from singular cookies. They have mini cookies, boxes of cookies, ice Cream and wiches (these are like ice cream sandwiches), cookie cakes, dippers and sides. They also have a variety of flavors that you can mix and match.
Since they remain open late at night, if you wake up and happen to be craving warm cookies it is the perfect place to go with their doors open until three am. Some of the cookie options are Chocolate Chunk, Classic With M&M, Sugar, Peanut Butter Chip, Snickerdoodle, Oatmeal Raisin, Double Chocolate Mint, White Chocolate Macadamia and Double Chocolate Chunk. They also have gluten free and vegan cookies.
My favorite out the six were the Classic with M&M which were a solid nine out of ten for me. I think mainly because I love M&M’s, but they go together perfectly with the cookie.
Next would be the White Chocolate Macadamia which was also a nine out of ten. I loved this one overall. That being said, I think that an all-white Chocolate cookie would be amazing.
Moving onto the Chocolate Chunk, which was also a favorite, receives an eight point five. This is because any cookie with chocolate is amazing. This cookie had so much chocolate in it, it was half cookie and half chocolate. With the cookie being warm, it made it amazing overall.
The Snickerdoodle and Sugar cookies for me were both a seven. I think that they both were missing something. The Snickerdoodle cookie had a taste similar to the sugar cookie which I think is why it was not my favorite overall. However, I still enjoyed them both.
The last cookie and my least favorite would have to be the Double Chocolate Mint. Truly, I think that for this cookie you either love or hate it. It is full of mint and chocolate all around which is not my favorite. The mint is too overpowering for this cookie to have dark chocolate.
I would not compare insomnia cookies to anywhere else because each place is different, but I think that a cookie place selling warm fresh cookies all day around is great for people who cannot get to sleep at night or are out late or even just want a sweet treat.
Insomnia is not in a very centrally located area. As it is not a store front location. I think that it’s amazing that it is downtown so when you are out and about downtown you can grab a cookie.
Though Parking to get to Insomnia is not the best. There are parking meters out in front but they are very limited, and I think the only way you can easily access the store is paying for a parking stop or walking pretty far.
My overall experience inside the store was extremely positive. Their customer service was genuinely nice and patient as I took my time to pick the cookies I wanted. The menus were easy to read and they had pictures on them so you could see what the cookies looked like. I visited Insomnia around four in the afternoon and at that time it was not busy at all. There were only two other people in the store with me as I ordered.
After trying six of the cookies from Insomnia being the Chocolate Chunk, Classic With M&M, Sugar, White Chocolate Macadamia, Snickerdoodle and Double Chocolate Mint my opinion about them has changed. None of the cookies I tried were a ten out of ten but also there are so many more that I have not yet tried. I would revisit Insomnia cookies again and recommend it to others.
