McDonald’s sells cards for Pokémon’s 25th anniversary

On February 9, 2021 McDonald’s released Pokémon cards in their happy meals to honor Pokémon’s 25th anniversary and demand for them is overwhelming. There are a total of 50 cards for people to collect that come in sets of four cards per happy meal. The cards include all 24 starter Pokémon, Pikachu and the holographic versions for each.

Eager fans rushed to McDonald’s and began to buy many of the packs and within a few days stock was getting low. Due to high demand, McDonald’s started to only offer cards if you buy a happy meal with them, so people started to sell bulk amounts of the packs online for upwards of $100.

While many people are buying the packs, there are also individual cards being sold. Some sellers are even asking for $500 for a 25th anniversary holographic Pikachu card. The event ended on March 8, 2021, but people are still buying and selling the cards.
